Sea Base was built in Cardnell's Yard at Maylandsea in 1973; with the bulk of the work being done in the school Easter holidays. It was moored in Lawling Creek near the yacht Seven Kings. It made sailing the Bosun dinghies, rowing the gig and canoeing much more convenient. A bridge (observation room) was added on top in 1974. Sea Base was used  until the end of 1978 when it broke its moorings during a storm on 31st December.
